Payment
The preferred entry and payment method is via the British Fencing online
entry system
www.fencingcompetitionentries.co.uk.
Entries and payment will also be accepted by post.
Cheques should be made payable to ‘Chelmsford Fencing
Club’. Payment must be received on or before the closing date to
avoid the late entry fee.
Maximum Entries
To ensure the smooth running of the event the
number of competitors will be restricted to 72 fencers. Entries
will be processed on a first come first served basis. If the
maximum number for the competition is reached all remaining
entrants will be placed on a reserve list.
Competition format
The competition will be run using a unique format with all fights fenced
to 5 hits with no elimination. For further information
see the Format
section of the website.
The competition will involve a whole day of fencing for
all competitors.
The estimated finish time is 5pm - 6pm. Please see the
timetable
for detailed information.
The organisers reserve the right to make minor changes to the published
format to ensure the smooth running of the competition.
Awards will be made to those placed 1st,
2nd, and 3rd.
Competition eligibility
This event is open to all fencers born on or before 1 January 1999.
All competitors must be members of British Fencing. Proof of
membership must be produced to check in unless the entry is made
via the online entry system.
Equipment
All equipment must conform to current British Fencing Guidelines for
Safety.
Masks must be without rust, holes or deformation and must have an elastic
backstrap.
Visor masks must also be fitted with two layers of transparent
material with a date of manufacture of less than two years.
Clothing must be free from tears, damage or weakness. A regulation
plastron must be worn. Gloves must overlap the sleeve. Breeches
must be worn. Socks must be of sufficient length to ensure that
the legs are fully covered.
Fencers must also have access to a spare weapon and bodywire.
Conditions of Entry
All fencers and spectators participate at their own risk, and are
personally responsible for their own safety. Spectators are
admitted to the venue, and entries accepted, on the
understanding that the British Fencing Association, the
Chelmsford and Anglia Ruskin University Fencing Club, the
organising committee, the officials, the referees and the staff
of the venue of the competition cannot accept responsibility for
accidents, loss or damage to persons or property, however
caused.
To conform with the
Centre's Health and Safety requirements and in accordance with
the competition Risk Assessment carried out, all kit
must
be stored in one of the designated kit areas (clearly marked
squash courts). The only equipment allowed into the main hall
will be that specifically required for fencing (clothing, spare
weapon/s, water, towel etc). Unfortunately, there can be no
exception to this rule and fencers will be asked to remove any
equipment that does not conform to these requirements.
All
fencers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
for the duration of the competition.
